After the chiropractor appointment on Thursday I decided I would run anyways. I'm such an idiot. Never should have done that. It made it worse of course and now I'm out for at least a week or 2. Probably longer. I'm coming to terms with this. I'm thinking it is most likely that I will not run a 1/2 marathon this spring. I may still be able to pull off a sprint triathlon in June. If I concentrate on the swimming & cycling for the next couple of months I should be able to do that.
The triathlon I want to do is called a sprint tri. It consists of swimming, cycling & running. They are very easy distances: 750m of swimming, 20km of biking & 5 km of running. I've even thought of doing the Olympic tri. That is double all of those distances, which I can do on the bike & running, but I don't think I feel comfortable to do that in swimming quite yet. I want some easy distances at first so I can get comfortable at swimming and then in the next few years get into the longer distances such as the Olympic, 1/2 Ironman and maybe some day a full Ironman.
I'm still exercises, doing weights and such. I will still go to spin class and do some swimming which will keep me physically active, but I must say, it just isn't the same as running.
I'm also going to a chiropractor as well as a massage therapist. I may also go back to the physiotherapist. I found the work she was doing helpful. Thank goodness for work benefits. ;)
