ScotiaBank Toronto Waterfront Marathon!!

I have officially signed up for the ScotiaBank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

I will be raising money for the Assaulted Women's Hotline. You can sponsor me here. This is my 3rd time running for this charity. In 2007 I ran a 5 k at this event for AWHL. Last year I ran the half-marathon & now this year I am running a full marathon.

Training for a Marathon

I haven't signed up yet, but my plan is to train for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on September 26th, 2010.

I will be running 4 days a week. 2 days out of the week I will be crosstraining. On my crosstraining days I will be doing weights. I will be using the STWN marathon training program by Jenny Hadfield.

Sporting Life 10k

Just got back from running in the Sporting Life 10k.
I greatly improved upon my time from last year. I believe I was about 58:59 last year & now this year I was 54:43.

Here are my runkeeper results:

Waterloo Half-Marathon results

Here are the results for the Waterloo Half-Marathon for 2010.

Out of 365 I was 202nd place. Out of 55 women from the age of 30-39 I came in 28th place. And for all women I was 74 out of 201.

Waterloo Half-Marathon

I ran the Waterloo half-marathon this morning. Very happy with my time. 2 hours, 6 minutes & 37 seconds (unofficial).

Runkeeper results:

Didn't sleep much last night. Went to bed around 10pm but didn't fall asleep until after after 1am. Woke up again around 4:30am & then fell asleep & then woke up again around 6am. Didn't feel too bad though.

1 Week to the Waterloo Half-Marathon

Wow, time has gone by fast. There is now only 7 days until I run the Waterloo half-marathon.

I drove up to Waterloo this afternoon so I could drive the course to familiarize myself with it. Holy crap there are a lot of hills. Like a lot, a lot. There were maybe 2 steep hills, but they didn't seem long. But many of the other hills were long but less steep.

2 Weeks to the Waterloo Half-Marathon!

I will be running the Waterloo Half-Marathon on Sunday April 25th, 2010.

I'm starting to get very excited & nervous about the run. During my training my knees have been bothering me near the end of my runs. I've also experienced a little pain in my lower back. Nothing too bad, I think I just need to stretch that part more. Other then that my training runs have been great & I've been really lucky this passed winter as there hasn't been a lot of snow.

Training for a Half-Marathon

This week & next are my most intense training period for the half-marathon I am doing in April in Waterloo. On Thursday this week I ran 7 miles and this morning I ran 12 miles.

Next week I will be running my usual 5 k on Monday & running intervals on Tuesday (5 miles + warm up & cool down). But here's the kicker, I will be running 8 miles (13 km) on Thursday & 13 miles on Saturday. Ouch!

Morning run

Woke up early this morning to go for a 10 km run. Now I'm not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination but I'm starting to enjoy my Thursday morning runs. Feels good to get that out of the way and the weather was beautiful today.

I went to Hero Burger for lunch & ate a 6 oz burger, fries & vanilla milkshake. Pretty much wasted my 10 k run. Oh well, it was good, but I'll never get all of that food again. Probably just stick to the burger & go only once a month.

Crosstraining day

Wednesday is usually my crossing training day. Depending how I feel. Usually I go to spin class, but I got out of work early & headed over to the Y & decided to get on a stationary bike & just listen to my music. Definitely didn't feel the energy as I usually do in spin class. Music pumping & the instructor's motivational yells. Gave up after 35 minutes.

When I got off the bike the my hamstrings were killing me. That would be from the deadlifts I did the day before. Note to self... stretch.
