Ironman training moves along

Sorry, I've skipped a week or so but I've been pretty busy. Training for the Ironman has gone fairly well the last couple of weeks. The weather was at it's coldest in mid-February but thankfully since then it's warmed up quite a bit. We are now seeing plus 0 temperatures during the day and I for one welcome it!

Feb 23rd - Mar 1st:

UTI and fibroids

IM training has been going pretty well. I've been able to keep my energy at a good level and not feeling as fatigue as I had been. Making sure to eat properly but I've had a few bad days where I eat junk. It's difficult for me to eat so healthy for so many days in a row. I'm used to eating junk food every other day, but I feel the affects a lot faster then I have before so it helps to stay on course.

Over thinking the fibroids

This week of training was slightly difficult for me. Again ups and downs. It started with my usual Monday swim class. My instructor was sick so we had a substitute. She noticed that I was crossing my hands too much so she told me to really separate my arms for a few lengths and then after awhile it would come back into place properly. Tried that and it certainly helped. And Wednesday swim where we did some fast swimming. I found my 50m and 100m swims haven't really gotten faster, my 50m was just under 1min and my 100m was 2:15. Not great, but I'm happy with that. I need to get faster.

1 Month of Ironman Training

Can't believe I've been doing this IM training for a month. So far so good, but this week was a little difficult. I got my period this week and because of the fibroids it's a lot heavier then it has been. I had been on birth control (on and off) for 23 years so I'm not used to this heavy bleeding thing. I started my period on Thursday and by Saturday afternoon I just felt exhausted. Then it occured to me that I hadn't been taken my iron supplements so I started that back up again. Need to be more consistent on that. Hopefully that will help.

3rd week of IM Training

The 3rd week of IM training had some ups and downs. It started off on Monday with a swimming session with TTC. I had dinner before the swim and was still hungry after eating that I had some almonds and a banana. Stupid move, I felt so sluggish and moved so slow. I even had the pregnant woman nipping at my feet when doing the drills. I must remember to have just a snack, not a complete dinner that close to the swim. Lesson learned.

Second Week of IM Training and a Bike Fit

My 2nd week of IM Training has gone very well. So far so good. My week always starts with TTC swimming . This is a coach lead swim session. I've been at this since late September last year and have found it enjoyable. I'm one of those people that like to do most of my exercising alone (except long bike rides). But I've been finding these workouts helpful as the coach has helped me improved my form. On that day I had my stroke correct, but wasn't gliding, so quick strokes. After that I was able to get my glide correctly.

First week of training for Ironman Muskoka

I have finished my 1st week of training for Ironman Muskoka 2015 and considering I ended up getting sick this week (a sinus cold) it was a great week. By the end of the week I was much better. I have been quite excited about training for my first Ironman, but recently I have found out I may get sidelined.

2014 - Year end review

2014 has shaped up to be a pretty good year. It has had it's ups and downs.

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon 2014 Race Report

DNF. The most dreaded acronym to a runner/triathlete ever. And that is exactly what happened to me for this race.

Multisport Bracebridge Olympic Triathlon 2014 Race Report

Leading up to the race I had been having blood pressure problems. Tuesday before the race my blood pressure was as high as 150/90. On the 2nd check after 10min, it was slightly lower at 134/80. Much better, but still not ideal.
